Mersey oBSERVATION TOWER, CROSBY

The RIBA launched a competition to design a new observatory adjacent to Crosby Beach. The observatory would enjoy views over the Mersey estuary and south towards Liverpool, as well as north towards Blackpool.

An upturned conical form with spiral ramp was proposed incorporating education spaces within the rotunda. The observation tower would be clad in hammered metal to reflect the sky and minimise its massing.
